Your common household chemical bath salts are no longer your regular bath room accessories. Apparently they are being used not just for bathing. Bath salts refer to a commercially available products and is a nickname for the synthetic drug which is a stimulant similar to cocaine or methamphetamine. Alpha-PVP is one of several synthetic compounds marketed as “bath salts” and other names. The drugs are typically administered orally, by inhalation, or by injection, with the worst outcomes apparently associated with snorting or intravenous administration according to National Institute on Drug Abuse or NIDA. Authorities say the drugs mimic the effects of potent stimulants such as cocaine.
